We are a nonprofit supporting families in some of the hardest circumstances there are. A lot of the people reading this site are researching a diagnosis, a court process, or an investigation involving their own child. We have built this site so that reading it leaves as little trace as possible.
The short version
We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, or social media pixels. We do not set cookies to follow you around. We do not sell, rent, or share your information. Most of this site can be read without us collecting anything about you at all.
What we collect, and when
When you donate
Donations are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe’s own secure form and never reach our servers. We receive and store your name, email address, postal address, the amount, and — if you chose to dedicate your gift — the honoree’s name and the notification email you gave us. If you gift a membership, we also store the contact name and email of the family you are gifting it to, so that we can reach them.
We keep donation records because a registered charity is required to. Stripe holds its own record and sends your receipt; Stripe’s privacy policy governs what they do with it.
When you comment on a post
We store the name you give, your email address, and your comment. Your email address is never published — it is only so a moderator can reply to you. We also store a one-way scrambled version of your IP address, which we cannot reverse into an address, and which exists only to help us deal with abuse.
Comments are read by a person before they appear. If you would like a comment removed after it is published, ask us and we will remove it.
When you fill in a form
Our forms — contact, mailing list, consultation requests, volunteering — are hosted by Typeform and open on Typeform’s own website. What you enter there goes to Typeform and then to us. Typeform’s privacy policy governs the collection.
When you simply read the site
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps short-lived technical logs of requests, as any web host does. We do not build these into profiles and we do not link them to anything else.
Children’s information
This site is for adults — caregivers, clinicians, and supporters. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Please also be careful about what you tell us about a child. If you write to us or comment about your own family, avoid including a child’s full name, school, or case details where you don’t have to. We moderate comments partly to catch this, but we would rather it never be typed.
Who else sees your information
Only the services that have to, in order for the site to work:
- Stripe — payment processing for donations.
- Typeform — the forms, on their own site.
- Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of this site.
- Captivate — hosts the podcast archive audio.
We do not share your information with anyone else, and we never sell it.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email we send. Ask us to remove a comment and we will.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
